In the scope of this endowment fund’s mission regarding the promotion of Education, Culture and to fully encompass its role as an institution stemming from Civil Society, our fund, through the representation of our Chairman, had an opportunity to be invited to the opening ceremony of the Caux Democracy Forum, taking place in Caux, Switzerland from 15th to 19th July 2024, alongside the Club Diplomatique de Genève.
This is in this capacity that I am writing these few lines in order to make the link between The Caux Democracy Forum, this exceptional platform for dialogue between all the actors of democracy, and our perspective through the prism of Education as a priority (cross-cultural and inter-religious).
This forum combined with the vision of Caux Initiatives of Change acts as a catalyst for human values like integrity, trustworthiness, and inclusiveness.
This brings an utterly valuable platform for cooperation among all the key actors, by encouraging dialogue and debate, which is the key to our success.
Globalization is forging greater interdependence, yet the world seems more fragmented. For politics and political institutions to promote a more human development and safeguard the freedom and dignity of all people, all key players must work hand in hand in close collaboration to revitalize Democracy, and deepen it to achieve peace.
Democracy has become an educational urgency, establishing a democratic thought is necessary by fueling academic trainings with principles such as good governance, citizenship, ethics, sustainable practices, respect, and positive values of peace, citizenship and solidarity, thus, building a vibrant civil society.
I am extremely grateful for having a chance to participate in this opening ceremony, a true platform for dialogue among decision-makers, international institutions, NGOs, political leaders, and active members of civil society. This is an open window that allows us to work on solutions to empower democracy worldwide, by reinforcing human rights, good governance, multilateral cooperation.
Educating for democracy in the long run is a mission that bears the duty to transforming education, reshaping scholastic activities, and seeking strategies for passing-on democratic principles.
As professionals in the field of international diplomacy/affairs, this is our duty to act as peace builders, bridges builders, and change makers to continue in the path of educating young people for democracy through a civilization of mutual respect, and love.
